about

I’m Lauren, and I’m trying to live as eco-friendly as possible, one day at a time.

I grew up like most of us, eating meat and dairy, going to zoos or circuses, and not really thinking about how my consumption affected the Earth. Even though I loved animals, I didn’t realize how much I was hurting them. But over the last 5 years, I have learned a whole lot, and consequently changed a whole lot. I originally went vegetarian for my health and to keep off weight in high school, which would lead me to becoming vegan three-ish years later after learning about not only the abuse of the animal agriculture industry, but also how animal agriculture is one of the leading sources of greenhouse gases in the world.

Along this journey, I went completely cruelty free with all my personal care and makeup, and began working in both animal shelters and wild animal sanctuaries. After changing my major from journalism to both environmental science and marine biology, I have begun working in ecological restoration, florida native gardening, and educating in my community.

A huge part of my change has been becoming vegan, as cooking has by far become my favorite hobby. Honestly, just eating in general is a big hobby of mine. I also began growing my own food off my tiny apartments balcony, which has evolved into a small garden plot in my yard. If food’s your thing, I’m your girl. I have found that vegan food really encompasses all my passions into one: it’s healthy, good for the planet, and kind to animals.

I’m currently in college in central Florida, going for a dual BA in environmental science and marine biology. I live with my boyfriend, our dog Dexter, two cats Kora and Zuko, and fish Blueberry. You’ll learn real quick that you don’t have to miss out on anything in life by going vegan or reducing your impact on our beautiful planet Earth.
